I am pleased, and late to announce that two exhibitions I co-curated, and designed with the International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation (IICSI) happen(ed) this month!
Douglas R. Ewart – Crepuscule, a mixed media installation at Laurier’s Robert Langen Art Gallery, opened on August 27, and runs to October 5. And as part of the Guelph Jazz Festival and Colloquium, Crepuscule @10C, with performances by Douglas R. Ewart, vocalist Rita Warford and Kathryn Ladano (bass clarinet) happened Sept 13-16, at Ten Carden in Guelph, Ontario! It was a busy month!
Douglas R. Ewart was the IICSI’s Improviser-in-Residence in 2016, and held the community improvisation event, Crepuscule in Guelph’s Arboretum, as the pinnacle of his residency. The Crepuscule exhibitions and events this month, were a showcase of his DIY instruments and sonic tops he also made during his residency (he was a busy guy!) Both exhibitions also feature(d) photographs I took at Crepuscule, and used the display devices I made (with the help of my Dad, Mike Forsey), for the DIY instruments and sonic tops.
