A Tresspass of Time and a little love from Montreal

I’m excited to finally announce my upcoming exhibition and artist talk dates tresspass-of-time-RForsey-MPP-Albanese-version-f-backfor A Trespass of Time at the Mount Dennis Toronto Public Library
(1123 Weston Road, Toronto, ON M6N 3S3). The exhibition runs: July 13 – August 1, 2013 and there is an opening reception, artist talk and presentation
with MPP Albanese on July 18, July 25,  6-8pm.

I’m going to be extolling the value(s) of urban exploration photography and exhibiting some of my early work from my Urban Remains series (2006-2008) that I photographed in the York South-Weston riding: Kodak Toronto, Benjamin Moore Paint, Symes Waste Transfer, Bunge and the New York Pork Exchange. MPP Albanese will be giving a talk about the history of the sites I have photographed and others in the York South-Weston riding.

In other news, my exhibition Paysages affectifs at Galerie Youn was reviewed last week in Vie Des Arts and featured in a Montreal.TV webisode (that i was completely unprepared to be interviewed in, i prefer my side of the lens, but it was wonderful none the less)! The printed love from Montreal is pretty sweet.

Assembled, examined and discovered paysage affectif: emotional landscapes visits Paris, Tokyo, Rome, Toronto, Detroit and cities of the imagination through manufactured, fabricated and documented panoramas of infamous and unfamiliar panoramas from around the world.

Devastated rustic beauty versus architectural structures, deserted interiors and conspicuous details brings us poetic, ethereal ghostly aesthetics and strange comforts through a sense of place that we understand through our interactions with the landscapes.

International and national photographers Jonathan Castellino, Richelle Forsey, Dieter Janssen, Yuriko’s Kubato, Lori Nix and Jonathan Savoie examine time and beauty in what they observe or envision around them.

RMG Exposed 2012!

I am thrilled to be a finalist in the RMG Exposed! Photography Auction. That’s the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa ON,  juried photo competition!  The RMG is: “The largest public gallery in Durham Region, the RMG occupies an inspired 36,000 square foot building designed by world-renowned architect Arthur Erickson. Featuring a Permanent Collection of over 4000 works of art, four galleries of diverse & changing exhibitions, vibrant programs, Arthur’s on the 4th event space, gallery shop, library, and two art & education studios, the RMG is located in downtown Oshawa beside the main library and City Hall.”

They selected my piece “bombshell” that I shot in very abandoned, extremely decimated St. Agnes/Martyrs of Uganda Parish Church in Detroit MI.

RMG just released the 46 finalists on their website and the competition is fierce!

The RMG Exposed! Live & Silent Auction is Saturday November 10, tickets are $50 and can be purchased here.
