Holiday?

This photo is from A day in the life of a Toronto Grizzly Bear, a series that I shot in 2006 for the exhibition Aminals - “articulating the complex spirit of anthropomorphism” in the media, curated by RJG Nelson.

I think it holds as a mood for today.

Fun fact, the bear was shooed off the bank’s property by security shortly after this was taken.

Thanks to @dieter.janssen for being a most excellent grizzly bear.

The Greenwich Mohawk brownfield site - once a boom

The Greenwich Mohawk brownfield site - once a booming industrial hub and then a sprawling abandoned and contaminated landscape of petroleum hydro-carbons from gas/diesel and heavy industrial oils; heavy metals like lead; xylene used in solvents and paints; toluene from paints and adhesives; polyaromatic hydrocarbons produced from boilers and generators; PCBs used in transformers, fluorescent lights, and capacitors; asbestos; and benzene produced as exhaust and in chemical manufacturing.

Remediation was completed in 2017 after more than a decade of effort that removed 148,000 cubic metres of polluted soil from the lands for factories: Massey Ferguson, Massey Harris, Verity Plow, and Cockshutt Plow.
