Come play with Anna and I this Sunday for a short

Come play with Anna and I this Sunday for a short ~45-minute bike ride/show & tell of our paste ups installed for CAFKA.25 around Downtown Kitchener. The bike tour begins at Red Raccoon Bike Rescue (12:30pm), and ends at Angie’s Waterloo (closed) for a community paste up at the site of the CAFKA.23 billboard!

Participants must bring their own bicycles for this tour.

We will share tips and tricks for outdoor urban paste up and create a collaborative piece together. Send us your own image or text artworks to be ready for paste-up at the workshop. Ready-to-paste artworks and texts, as well as paste and paste up tools will be made available at the community paste up site.

Joining the bike tour is not required and you can meet us at Angie’s Waterloo at 1:45pm.

Artwork must be received by July 15th in order for it to be printed for the workshop.
PDF or JPEG files are preferred
Maximum print size of 11” x 17”
High resolution files work best (150-300 dpi)

illusory forest has moved to Victoria St. N and Ce

illusory forest has moved to Victoria St. N and Centennial Rd. in Kitchener and will be on view until the end of July for CAFKA.25: Field Guide to the Understory.

Anna and I chose this location so that the artwork would be nestled in the trees that surround the billboard infrastructure; but it wasn’t until we went to document the work that we learned that the private property was once a city owned apple orchard that became orphaned and inaccessible by the changing landscape around it and so it was sold to the expand the vehicle impound lot.

Our project, “The Landscape is Dead” reflects the intersection of the landscape and the built environment for contemplation, to illuminate the complex and troubling questions about human impacts on the natural world.

car window forest is ready for Almanac - @g44photo ’s annual members’ survey exhibition!

It’s not a quick process, but being able to make a unique frame for irregular sized work and not look cheap just feels good.

Thanks 🙏 to my Dad @mikeforsey for the miter jig (last photo of the glue-up) and all the wood - the spline is purple heart and frame is cherry.

Hunter graduated from grade 8 today and was the 2025 recipient of the Academic Award as well as a JAG (for students who leave their mark) from John Galt P.S.! We are so proud of them.

Where Things Burn is only ~46km round trip by bike

Where Things Burn is only ~46km round trip by bike from Guelph! The route is mostly cycle friendly (trails and painted lanes) and 3 hours round trip if you are slow but steady like myself (and my cycle pal @mike_darmon ) and riding a 30lb bike loaded with camera gear 🤪.

Anna & I are planning a ride out that way in July - weather and air quality permitting. Let me know if you want to join us, we stop in Hespeler Village (where the billboard is), for a food, refreshments, and bird watching 🔎🐦‍⬛🚲.

We are so excited to be participating in CAFKA.25: Field Guide to the Understory.

The magic official begins on June 7, but you can see some of @annagtprint and my paste-up interventions in downtown Kitchener before then.

CAFKA.25 draws inspiration from the intricate ecosystems of the forest understory, where life flourishes in the fleeting glow of dappled light and where intricate microhabitats thrive in the shadow of giants. CAFKA.25 considers the possibilities of an urban understory where, below the tall buildings and executive suites, we see a rich tapestry of entwined narratives and a deep desire for balance and community.

I am thrilled to have 2 works selected for the exhibition including “what we cannot see - (stitches).

Thank you to the @ontarioartscouncil for supporting the development of this work, and @erinszikora and @shaunajmccabe for your curatorial magic.

155,578 is the first curatorial initiative by Erin Szikora (as the AGG’s new Curator of Contemporary Art!), and “the exhibition seeks to listen to the city — to the stories, questions, and creative gestures that define its present, while looking ahead at possibilities for its future.”

These two photo-based works were selected for the @insightsarts 44th Juried Exhibition of Fine Arts @ The Wellington County Museum & Archives.

My cyanotype “Lake Huron” also earned me the Photography Award - sponsored by Maureen & Max McIntyre (🙏)! (Photo #2 is called Fictive Landmark).

I am grateful to @elorafergusarts in collaboration with @wellingtoncounty for the opportunity for regional artists to share our work.

On April 12, there is ‘A Walk with the Jurors’ from 1:30- 3pm - a chance to see the works in this year’s exhibition from the perspective of the jurors @colette_laliberte @shaunajmccabe and Kevin Ghiglione.

The exhibition runs until May 25.

Last weekend I attended an amazing workshop - “I

Last weekend I attended an amazing workshop - “Introduction to Mordançage” on black and white prints led by @ellasharpmorton at @g44photo .

Ella generously provided documentation about the process before the workshop with a suggestion that thin negatives would be best suited for the process, so I was ready with a negative I had high hopes for a particular outcome from. The workshop was incredibly organized and paced for multiple participants, and I was able to make 4 unique prints from fibre print to mordancage. There is nothing that compares to the magic of a full day in the darkroom. 🙏 Ella! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Mordançage is an obscure darkroom technique developed in the 1970’s by French photographer Jean-Pierre Sudre that evolved from the 19th century process of bleach-etching.
