I’ve been so fortunate to collaborate with so many amazing artists recently.

For Si(gh)t[e] Lines we wanted to present our work exploring our shared concerns for the Earth’s ecology as a collective narrative. Susan Sontag wrote, “To photograph is to confer importance.” and Si(gh)t[e] Lines accords this idea of value to the contemporary landscape through our photographs converging processes, witnessing, and looking to explore the social urgency of ecological imbalances.

The exhibition in Gallery 44’s Production Gallery closes this weekend.

Closing this week! Si(gh)t[e] Lines - the group exhibition of photographs by artists Peggy Taylor Reid, Richelle Forsey, Carolyn Cheng, and Ariyo.

Drop by the Gallery 44 Production Gallery until November 9.

The artists’ individual bodies of works are presented as a collective narrative through their shared concerns for the Earth’s ecology, explored using different approaches and techniques with photography. On the contemporary role of photography in society, essayist Susan Sontag wrote in 1973, “To photograph is to confer importance.” The exhibition Si(gh)t[e] Lines accords this idea of value to the contemporary landscape seen through photographs by four artists converging processes, witnessing, and looking to explore the social urgency of ecological imbalances.

We will be hosting a closing drop-in for our exhibition The Landscape is Dead at Wyndham Arts 3rd Floor Gallery this Saturday.

The gallery is up the stairs from the second floor of Wyndham Arts (125 Wyndham St. N). The gallery is not accessible.

Inside the McCormick confectionary factory (May 20

Inside the McCormick confectionary factory (May 2019).

The state-of-the-art, “most sanitary”, fireproof factory was built in 1913 on Priest’s Swamp at the Eastern edge of the city of London. The windows covering 68% of the building exterior gave the building the moniker “The Sunshine Palace” because even its deepest interiors were flooded with bright sunlight during the day.

The factory changed hands several times between 1937 and 2003, and closed in 2008. The property was purchased by Sierra Construction of Woodstock for $1!!

Currently it is an “eyesore” and hotspot for “vagrant” activities, and rescues (3 teenagers this year), while the owner appeals a ruling on limits for the new buildings height and making a multi-use path on the property publicly-accessible…

The for main building (pictured) is to be repurposed for mixed use.

We went on a last minute, meandering road trip North of Guelph to find a spot to see the aurora borealis. Just as we were about to head back home, the sky lit up and dazzled us with ALL the colours.

fresh water.

I have photographed this location several times and haven’t been able to determine if the trail leading into the lake is a natural phenomenon or constructed. It reminds me of the basalt formations of the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland (photo 2 - what I have accessible from 2006).

Bike the Night! Hosted by the lovely and hardworking folks of @activeguelph - Guelph’s active transportation advocates - was Saturday Night, and I managed to ride the route AND catch the spin of people cycling around pool/rink at City Hall on their twinkling bikes after the ride.

Autumn in the Ontario Reformatory.

This piece is part of the final Change of the Seasons exhibition curated by @eric.allen.montgomery in The Greenroom Lounge at the @bkshelfcinema . Eric started this series showcasing works by local artists of iconic Canadian Landscapes in 2019 (!!!) and it has been a thrill to create something to show in almost every change over.

The exhibition runs until Dec. 15 and is on view when the cinema is open.
